Astro T5, slash cut for street, straight cut (noisier) for track

As long as you have some common sense a T5-z is a great option.
The less sense you have you may want to upgrade to one of the following: Astro or G-force T5 TKO-500/600 (500 has a better 1st gear ratio) Tremec 3650 (promotion now makes a bellhousing adapter)

I would of just went with a built C4 and been done with it. But to each there own.
Depends on budget, but the TKO 500 and 600 transmissions seem to hold up pretty good. I have also heard good things from the Astro built T-5's

I had the same dilemma. I decided to go with a built C-4 from Performance Automatic. I got their ProComp C4 (Built for 1000HP and guaranteed for LIFE) with a manual reverse valve body. I love it. Still have to shift every shift and have engine braking in second. My ET's are now extremely consistent. Your choice though

+1. The TKO is a great option because you can always add some ponies to it later as well. |

ok i decided to go with the t56 magnum transmission with all the goodies for the conversion.I went with a fadenza flywheel and a spec stage 3 clutch good for 700 hp and a custom shortened aluminum drive shaft and a custom made trans cross member.I didnt want to go with a built c4 cause it is more of a street car and didnt wnat to run out of gear with the engine rpms up when im cruising.

"didnt want to run out of gear with the engine rpms up when im cruising" ???? im clueless ??? C4's can't be driven on the street ? Well gee, I've got a C4 blower car with a measly 3:73 in it and I don't have no problems cruising the street or even hopping on the hwy... ?

what i mean is, right now i have an aod in there and if i dont use the over drive and im in 3rd and im on the parkway going 70 im already up pretty high in the rpms so i thought with a c4 im gunna have the same thing since its only a 3 speed or am i wrong. i dont want to hear the drone of my exhaust if im going on a long cruise sorry if i you got the wrong idea never meant that it couldnt be used but just not for me. so just curious when your criusing at say 65 -75 what rpms r u at i was at like 4000 with the aod using just the 3 gears no overdrive and a 373 as well
