Wrap it with heat wrap. I have long tubes in my car and a high torque starter. I have not had to wrap it yet.... I have a 347cid also..

Thanks for your Input. But i still think I should go with a better starter becuase even when its cold it barely wants to turn over. What starter brand are you running? |

Your starter heat problem may really be just a warn out starter. I had the same problem but it went away with nothing more then replacing mine with a cheapo rebuilt local parts store starter. A standard typical shorty setup should not cause starter heat problems. It would not hurt to wrap your starter but I think you need a new one.

I thought I had a heat problem but come to find out it was just the body and battery ground needed to be cleaned?
