i still cant start the damn thing!

ok, so i have spark now.. and eveything is timed correctly.. but the damn thing wouldnt start. i checked the plugs.. they were covered with carbon.. and basically unusable... autolite platinums.. i tested the spark of one, and it looked weak. so i figure, eh ill get new ones. so i did.. and still nothing. when i took out the old plugs, there was a ton of fuel in the #4 and 8 cylinders.. well i put the new plugs in, and cranked the motor.. still nothing. i took out the plugs again.. and sure as shit, the same two cylinders had fuel all over the place. but not the front ones.. now common sense told me that the engine is slanted backwards and the butterfly opens towards the rear and fuel is going to migrate that way, but it just doesnt make sense how much fuel was in there after cranking for such a short period of time. 3 and 6 had a little, and 4and 8 were soaked... all the others looked normal. ive got an unregulated 7lbs of fuel going into a holley 650 cfm with vaccum secondaries.. i just woke up and realized i had the vaccum set up to a block off plate, so there was no vaccum on it at all.. i think maybe somewhere i missed something.. i dont know too much about carbeurators at all..
oh the set screws on both side were all the way tight with a half a turn to the left.. and the idle set screw was a turn and a half out. i cant visually see a change in fuel amounts when i move the set screws... and the last two times i started it, it idled for about 30 seconds and then bogged down and died. i cant get it started, and im getting very very frustrated..
is the carb too big?
does the vaccum have anything to do with idle?
why isnt my car running??????
please help.

Sounds like you may need to disassemble the carb, and check needle valve and seat for wear, check for the valve sticking open. But first check the easy- air bleeds, choke.
