Broken Door Handle

My dad borrowed my car yesterday and now the drivers door will not open... anyone know where I can get a picture of the door assembly so when I get the door panel off I know what to look for?

It opens from the inside just not the outside.

Then the outside door handle has come off of the rod inside the door. You don't need a diagram as long as you aren't in a special class.

Take the door panel off (screws in the arm rest, power accessory panel, speaker grill, mirror corner cover). Look inside the door to see where the outside door handle attaches. Move the door handle up and down so you can see the range of motion.

Close to the door handle you should see a vertical rod that is not connected to anything. It has a couple of right angle turns towards the top. Just take that rod and reinsert it through the hole in the door handle mechanism.

Welcome aboard bro!

Honestly, roll by an auto parts store, rip open a Haynes brand repair manual and make the dude workin the counter copy it for ya. Door pins and bushings, when they start goin, makes opening the door from the outside a lil difficult.

Mine is doin the same thing. Lift up on the door as you open it and see what that nets ya.

Other than that, if ya'll gots a body shop down there, hit them up and get their opinion.

Yeah, in my senior year of high school, my friend got a new Civic after having an 88 POS Escort / Tempo hybrid. A few weeks later I parked right next time him in my 90 GT (having previously driven a Corolla). We didn't talk for the rest of the year.

He also had his parents buy him a $400+ carbon fiber hood. Except it isn't carbon fiber. It's fiberglass, wrapped in a carbon fiber adhesive sheet; the wrap ends about one inch around the edge of the hood, you can actually peel it back with you fingernail. And the rest the underneath isn't covered with a pad, it's that random, unfinished fiberglass pattern. He still thinks it's carbon fiber.

No, he graduated with me. Unfortunately, my high school was a breeding ground of stupidity, ignorance and budding racism.

But for more ricer proofness, he put dragon seat covers on, dragon squeeze jets on the "carbon fiber" hood and switched all his running lights + interior lights to green bulbs. He used to drive around at night with the interiot lights on, the cabin awash in pale green light. Thank God he grew out of that.

He also put a strut tower brace on to handle all that torque from the CAI. I forget what he used to call it, but he never got the name right; pretty sure it was "strut bar".

Got it fixed. The rod that runs from the door handle to the latch was bent. Straightened it out, oiled the whole system and it will work for now. He bent the handle and I fixed it as best as I could. I will need to order new ones. After tearing into the door I also see that I need to get new door panels. I guess I will do that when I change the interior to black.

Told you it was a simple fix.

Oh, and sorry for hijacking your thread. I can't resist making fun of a silly ricer.

Yeah, too loose in there.

Anyways, back at the topic creator. I hate you. Today I drove my car to go pick up some yummy Japanese food with a girl and when we return to my car to drive off, . . .. my door handle doesn't work. The same thing I told you about how to fix it, that happened to me again. I was so pissed. I am so pissed, I honestly just want to sell the heads and intake I have for my car, buy a pickup truck and never touch this shitbox again. So somehow, I blame this on you. You sent your spirit, or the spirit of your door handle across the great cosmos to piss me off. And after all the helpful advice I gave!
