Rebuilt/strengthened T-5's help......
Anybody know any places that you can get a Borg Warner t-5 rebuilt or redone for more torque capacity??? Mine is shot and want to keep the T-5 due to upgraded clutch ,alum. driveshaft, and pro shifter. Anybody got any ideas on a semi-cheap upgrade option, holla!

there isn't a whole lot to do to a t5 on the cheap other than a basic rebuild. Anything else starts getting expensive especially if you want it to hold a lot of power G-Force makes some good stuff for a T5 but it's pricey.

Purchase a World Class kit and go to a local transmission shop. Still though, even with the world class kit it's not as strong as a Tremec.

:homo If you insist on keeping the t5, just take it to a tranny shop and tell them to rebuild it with a world class kit. Not sure what labor rates are near you but here Im looking at about 700 bux +@200 for the upgrade kit. You could probably buy one already built for that off of eBay but then youre dealing with someone you dont know.

I would say learn to rebuild your own t-5 because if you keep it you'll be going through this several more times.....the world class kits are bs as you don't get the coated gear set and the awsum 2.95 first gear as the want make the wc-t5 a want to own transmission..it you have a short shift, shifter then dump it for the stock one as this will help the t5 live longer

The Worldclass has a different gear ratio for first gear and the gears are thicker than the regular t5 so theyre supposed to hold up to more horsepower.

I think I'm gonna go with the Astro Performance Super Alloy tranny. Supposedly it will hold to my torque level and horsepower output. They seem like a real standup company.....

I thought all the 5.0 efi's from mid-86 and up w/ t5's were the "world-class" trans.

I believe it was an option. I have 2 friends one with an 89 and the other with an 87 both are GTs. Both guys stripped 3rd gear within warranty period and upgraded to the WC model.

Would you fella's say that the 82 Capri I found junked with a T5 I could use in my 91 Foxbody with of course an 87-93 bellhousing?!
I could use some outside opinions. Thanks!

Considering its a t-5 al you would have to do is pull it out of the Capri and put it in your Stang. I would recomend a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing while youre in there and it wouldnt hurt to have the flywheel re-surfaced too.

If you keep your T5, do like vfast said and learn how to rebuild it yourself because this won't be the only time you rebuild it. It will become as common as changing your spark plugs unless you drive like a little old lady.
