Wet sump vs. Dry sump

I heard that dry sump systems release more hp out of motors but than i also see people bragging about have a wet sump system instead? And the newer Z06 is a wet sump and proud of it apparently. What is better?

Dry sump systems are primarily for racing and only racing. They do offer a small horsepower increase.

the new zo6 is not a wet sumb. It along with the viper and ford gt are dry sumps. There are im sure a few others as well. I honestly don't know why someone would brag about having a wet sump over a dry sump...

Can i use a shalower dry sump pan and make it a wet sump pan with one of those sloted plates that lays about half way in the pan. Would that work? i mean just for better ground clearance and better efficiency.

Just a sheet of paper with all the actual clearances and measurements of your actual engine.

Dodges SRT-4 has a dry sump oil system.

The slots you speak of; their location is very important in the pan. They act as baffles to refuse oil to slosh to one side or the other under extreme lateral G loads, thus the engine becomes starved for oil and... Well, we all should know what happens then.

Pretty much outta the bottom. Gravity play an important role.

I was almost positive a dry sump has a shalower pan than a wet sump but the dry sump comes with a big cylinder tank that is put in your engine bay. I didnt know how big that cylinder tank is in relation to the rest of the motor.
