Im only 27 myself and not going to act like your parent but do remember that those kind of tickets will have a big fine and points on you record which = ins rates going up. Dont think that a 3 point harness is going to make you superman and these cars are tin cans and will wad up and look like when you step on a coke can.

Non OEM style seatbelts are not dot approved and not leagle to drive on public roads with. If not installed properly they are far less safe.

+1... i take the risk on the street with them though because I know im far safer with a 5 point harness and my 10 point cage than i would be with a stock belt... And i can show the officer that the car is a infact a race car and that im being as safe as possible in it (not speeding, not jacking around, but just driving it) I also have to wear a helmet so that if I get hit from the side my head does not drill the top of the cage on the side... once you get a race car that is streetable alot changes.

If you run any type of harness like that, you NEED at least a harness bar, but honestly after having one, I would think that a harness bar would be no safer. Its not going to break your spine when you wreck, but if you flip over somehow you are not going to have the play a stock seat belt has... Harnesses should wait til you have a proper roll bar or cage in the car IMO.
