GT40 Heads
I was gonna start looking into new heads for my '89 GT and I started looking into the gt40s. I noticed that there is a gt40X gt40Y and gt40P. I was wondering what the major difference in all of them is and which would be the best? Also, What could I get these heads off of? I heard they were on some explorers but I'm not sure what the different styles of heads were off of. Is it recomend to put a new cam if I replaced the heads? Which cam from ford racing would work the best with each head?

when you buy gt40crate engines from ford they come with either a b or an e cam . you would be better off with the e cam or you could get one from anderson ford motorsport which you are probably better off doing

I ad a set of the gt40x heads... they are a decent uprgrade from stock, but if you plan to make good NA numbers have them ported or just put that money into some TW heads.

if you are going to spend money on the aluminum gt40s, just save a little bit more and buy some trick flows or something similar...
The iron gt40 or gt40p heads are decent for a budget. |
