I just bought a 5.0 and it has been converted to a carb and if I punch the throttle down it hesitates and then takes off the carb is set how it came stock and is brand new not many miles can anyone help here is what I have on the motor. 650 Holly carb ,eldebrock victor jr intake, msd distributor, after market plug wires, and a cam not sure what kind but know it is not stock and the motor is gear driven. As far as I know everything else is stock. Please help it is driving me crazy.

Sounds like it may be a bad accelerator pump or many other issues. I would check pump ops first. to check ops shut engine off remove air cleaner, open and close throttle while looking into carb air horn, and you should see a stream of fuel spray into air horn, it should start as soon as you open the throttle. It shuld continue for a bit after full throttle. if the fuel is weak adjust/repair pump.
