Nitrous questions

Ok what is better for the 5.0's? The plate that goes between the throttle body or something like a shark nozle in the intake tube? I have heard that the plate will cause puddeling in the intake and set you up for a big backfire. have any of you guys heard of that hapening?

The plate that goes in between the upper and lower will not cause the fuel to puddle. If you use the wet kit where the fuel and nitrous nozzles go before the upper intake or throttle body that is when the fuel puddling occurs. Stay away from those types. If you want a wet kit use the plate system that goes between the upper and lower intake.. Or just run a dry kit...

Thats cuz that intake sucks.. Just buy a dry kit and you will be fine..

Well not really if you are running 100hp shot or less you prob wont need a tune.. With 100 shot or less you prob dont even have to retard your timing... If you wait till you get the No2 when you get a tune then you might want to consider the chips that have more than one tune. One for no nitrous and then you flip a little switch and the other tune is for the nitrous..

If you are gonna run 125-hp or more then you have to start taking out timing. and you prob want to get an inline booster fuel pump..

fogger nozles do a good job. With a fogger its really hard for the cold nitrous and fuel to condense and pool in a hot intake. The spray bars before the plenum are more prone to pooling fuel. With a fogger nozel, at the track, if I hot lap, tll turn my bottle off, and give the engine a little shot of just fuel, to cool off the intake, and I have never had one backfire.

i know, I'm not trying to be the know it all guy, I just wanted to let him know the fogger nozle is OK, they're like $40 and the spray bar plate between upper and lower are expensive.

I hear ya man but I dont know if he knows like the little trick that you do to prevent pooling.. So his safest bet prob is the plate kit or dry kit...

What is the best specs to build a motor you plan on running nitos on?
what compression range or does that not matter. This wil be a street car that will be driven hard. It is a carburated car i am going to send the block to a machine shop I would like to increase the cubic inches to as much as possible any suggestions would be appreciated

Use a 351 block much stronger and worth the $ Unless you can afford a race block. Stock 5.0 blocks are weak above 450 whp.

N20 likes compression, for a N20 street motor I would go 11.5-1 Good compression and will still run on pump gas. Forged pistons are a MUST and than build the best motor you can afford from there...

I would not run 11.5:1.. It prob will run on pump gas but the tune has to be perfect.. Plus with that high compression with No2 the chance of detonation is very very high if your tune is not absolutely perfect. i would run 10.5:1.. Thats what I have and it is in my opinion a perfect compression... With 11.5:1 and No2 the cylinder pressure is super high.. If your tune is not perfect good by head gaskets and whatever else..

He's building the motor for N20....right? If thats the case then go as high as you can and still run 93.

Sounds like you need to meet a good tuner. This is a 11.5-1 street driven car I own that has not had any problems.

Build it right and tune it right and all will be fine. Cheep out on somthing you will pay.

Dude 10.5:1 is not cheaping out on anything.. Its just safer.. What makes you say I need to meet a good tuner?! Oh yeah you know who I know and where I go.. I had my car with a Coast High Performance 347cid Street Fighter crate motor with Anderson PMS tuned by Anderson Ford Motorsport.. It dont get any better than that bro...
