How much lift at lifter?
While I got the heads off I figured I would check the lift using a dial indicator on the lifters to see what size cam is in the motor.
I bought this motor used and it seems to have a small cam in it due to the idle and powerband. Its a 306 and the pistons have valve reliefs, an 86 roller block. The heads were e6's but it doesnt matter cause im changing those. So what kind of lift should I be looking for on an 86 roller motor. I read somewhere that .444 lift was stock cam but thats after the 1.6 rockers. So I was thinking around .275 lift at the lifter? Does that sound right? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Divide total lift by rocker ratio and that will give you lobe lift.
.444/1.6 = .2775
