what aftermarket T-5 shifters have you used not only in your car but other cars you have driven? What shifter was the worst?

I have had a Triax, Pro 5.0 and Ripper (regular, not pro) and I like the Triax the best. It has the best feel out of all of them and is built real solid. This post reminded me that I have a Triax to sell... I will post it in the classifieds now.

I have the Triax shifter, it's the only one I have used and I like it, like the previous post said they are built solid. No complaints here!

Why do people get aftermarket shifters, because they are short throws?

The main reason is to prevent over shifts and miss shifts. Aftermarket shifters have positive stops to prevent you from bending SH1t up. The shift patterns are better than stock and help on the nasty 2-3 shift. Hope that helps ya out a little.

I got the Pro 5.0 and would def get another one. want to try the MGW. heard lots of good about them.

IMO. so long as you don't bet a B&M you should be fine. I have used them in the past and don't really care for 'em

I never had a problem hitting 2 -> 3. When I first got my car, one of the bolt was missing from the shifter, so the shift pattern was huge compared to normal. Once I got that fixed, I don't think I ever screwed up a shift after that.

. . . except for this one time when I was cruising down the highway spaced the fuck out and I thought to myself, "OK, time to step it up a gear," so I reached for the stick, immediately knew I was 5th then shifted to 6th because that's the higher gear right? Yeah, it would be if I had a 6 speed. I have a T5. Don't ask what was happening in my head.

Anyways, on topic. I know one user said their Hurst springs crapped out but does anyone else have any bad experience with Hurst? I want one because.. .it's a Hurst, damnit. Also, is there any place that actually carries these to try out how they feel, or you just need to find a friend with one?
