When carbs floods engine twice

Now my engine took in quite a bit of fuel. Yes at first in locks up or something but after a couple hours in starts right on up like instantly.

What can I do to at least get rid of the extra fuel?... Oil Change, add a little more oil, Buy those complete engine cleaners from Autozone?

Thanks,

Change the oil before you drive it.

PHEW!!!!!!!!! I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD TELL ME THAT'S ALL I HAD TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!! :award

Ok thanks a bunch, I mean yeah man it was bad, some my plan is this. Please tell me im on the right track because this is not a ford focus im driving LOLOL....

1. Getting an Outside Fuel Pump from autozone(Supports 5-8PSI)
2. Cutting the wire's from the Stock pump since it is for EFI. (Mine is Carb'd) and wiring/running the lines for the external Electric pump.
3. Buying one needle and seat for my demon
4. Like you said(Drain The Oil) Hense, I might do an engine clean too.
5. Throw in fresh gas.

I should be all fixed up then right?

sounds like a good plan, but if I was gonna replace 1 needle and seat, I'd do both. If 1 went bad, the other one's probably not far behind

Yeah, you're right as well and have already thought that. I was going to do it like that because the bowl closest to the firewall seems excellent so I said well nevermind with that. But you have tons of experience with the muscles so I am going to do that.

My knowledge of cars is not really bad at all, Hey I just moved from a 4 banger to a top notch muscle so it's very different. Let alone a performance carb LOL.

Pull the plugs and turn the motor over after you disconnect the fuel pump to make sure you didn't hydro lock the motor. Liquid doesn't compress....

Yeah i's hydro locked a couple times, had to get a new battery because I was impatient to wait 4 hours to start it up again. So I left the bastard alone after a perfect crank and not gonna mess with it until I get that pump from autozone.

Ya'll please answer this, where would be a good spot to mount that pump and how the heck do I run it. This is my first external carb fuel pump installation.

If you are putting in an inline pump I suggest mounting it to the inside of the frame rail on the drivers side. This will keep it protected as much as you can plus you will have easy access to it

Thanks,

That was my plan but didn't know it will be better on the drivers as the fuel line runs from the passenger side.

That was more of what I needed help on, How do I run the lines (Which one does what to connect to the new pump. Because they told me once I put in my new one that I can just snap the wires off the old pump and leave it alone.

you need just a fuel regulator
if you don't have a bigger cam or heads that intake isn't helping you in the low-mid range and won't help at all on the big end due to hp drop off around 4800-5200

I already have an FPR so thank goodness. As for the rest of the guys reading this message. Remember when I said I was going to buy the Autozone Universal pump that was like $40.00? Well I finally picked up my nuts and bought the Holley Red Pump 12-801-1 and installation starts today, I just was to install it without taking off the tank and old pump. What I was thinking was just hook up the pump, remove the relay switch, connect the new pump wiring up, then connect the line from the outlet side of the fuel filter to the new pump and call it a day so I can drive.

Ok installed new pump!!!

Im having one problem though, when I turn the key over, I do hear the pump going and I assume it's working because of THE FUEL LEAKING FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE TANK!!!. Now I only have 3 bucks worth in the tank so I can't see how it's leaking from there. There no wet spots on the lines neither in/out ends. This is how I ran it...

1. Took the relay switch off the plug(Stop that old pump.
2. Removed the outlet hose of the fuel filter.
3. Inserted the inlet hose to the new inlet pump.
4. Connected stock hose of the (Outlet) side to the outlet side of the new pump.

5. Connected my wires like so and it works.

Now see'ing there's no leaks on the hoses, Im getting a leak on the drivers side. Also no fuel is showing up in the upper see through fuel filter.

Like vfast said, is it backwards? Do you have it mounted on the factory fuel lines? If so, did you connect it to the return line by mistake?

Yeah matter of fact, after looking upside down up to the tak and lines, I realised my dumbo self did do it backwards and was switched around right afterwards. Tested it and it did run the fuel on down, but from the filter.

Im glad you swaid that to Darrel, To keep me from paying another damn 100 bucks for a pickup as it took my life to get the damn new holley pump, is there a way I could pipe in from somewhere else to let my pump grab the fuel?

I really don't want to take out that old pump because that's what tells me if im low or full.

Thats where the insert comes in. It keeps everything functional. If you wanna rig it youre just gonna have to suffer the consequences (guage not working, having to rig a pickup line etc..). I dont mean that as an insult but there are a million ways to make something "work" but if you wanna do it right, youre just gonna have to spend a little cheese.

Well, what I was thinking of this "rigging" section is...

1. Taking off the pump
2. Disconnect the hose for the sucking & pushing.
3. add a copper hose in place of it and run it all the way down.

That's just a thought but like yall said, "if imma do it, do it right" and I plan on that. If i can hold my balls and buy a Holley Red Pump, then I can squeeze my balls and spend the last hundred for the pickup.

I was also thinking, just drill a small hole at the bottom of the tank, add a little screw thingy to connect the hose up to and that should work.

Guys, don't worry, I will probably buy the damn pickup from jegs or find a carb'd vehicle from the salvage yard and snag that.

No the sending unit for the gauge is separate. It is in the middle-rear of the tank. The pump is in the upper right side of the tank.
