Help! Hole in Piston

Ok guys, tore down motor thinking it needed head gasket and boy did i get a surprise. Valve broke bounced around on piston and made a hole. It was nasty looking. Motor is a 302 in my 94 Gt. Gonna need new heads and pistons for sure and most likely a bore job done. I was thinking bout the 331 stroker but let me hear some tips from the experts. Thanks for all the help. May do the 351 swap if someone is interested in the parts i have on this built 302

Well thats what my car is and being brought up with a old school father the has always been that the 347 smokes more and blah blah and that bore is to big and its harder to cool. The main reason is that since I have had mustangs I have always had a 331 street car and the last two have been blower cars. Never any problems with them and I dont think theres enough difference in ci to worry one way or the other. Plus my car is really really strong for a street car.

buy a block if you want to go 331/347. Thats why they are known as 331/347 smoker kits.

Ya... you know those bigger bore 347's...a lot bigger than those 331 bores.....

Any body that builds a 331 over a 347 from scratch should be kicked in the face....

well I reckon i should be kicked in the face then hell might as well kick me twice for putting a e cam in it while you are at it. I like my 331 you like your 347. When you pay for my build I will run a 347 till then i am going to build what i like.

I had a 331 when I had a fox and loved it. best motor that was in that car out of 6 different combinations over 11 yrs, ran way better than my buddies 347 with similar mods. Mine was strong and never gave me any real grief. My buddies 347 always seemed to have probs. Another guy I know just dropped a 331 into his '68 and its running high 11's w/o any artificial aspiration.
