i ve heard of people that made over 450 with a stock block but thats up to a well balanced bottom end and if someone wants to take a chance of destroying some parts.sure you could get a main and valley girdle and
hope the block wont split on you or step up to something thats a bit more
reliable and someone is a bit more confident in.who would want an unreliable street car that you gotta worry about you engine spilling its guts all over the street.

One of the easiest ways to tell if it is a true Boss 302 motor is to check the freeze plugs. They will be the screw in type. They will have a square hole in them so you can put a ratchet or extension in them to install or remove them..

I just cant see you gettin a true Boss motor for 500 bucks.. The short block alone is prob worth 3 times that if not more... Thats not including what the heads are worth if they are Boss heads... Just dont seem real to me....

Are they just a stronger block or what? Rare? What is so special about them?

Well Stang I agree but sometimes people dont know what they got and sell something dirt cheap. I got an M-code 351 (D0AE casting) that was in flawless condition (bores still looked brand new when I took it apart) awhile back for 400 bucks. Granted their were more of the 4V 11.1 Clevelands made then the Boss motors but still a good find.

Well, theres a ton of people who would love to restore their Boss 302 mustang with one im sure, and they pay top dollar. The engine only came in a Boss 302 so its not like you could get another engine from mail order or something.

They are much tougher then the other small blocks of the time, thicker deck in the block, and cylinder walls, also high nickel content block, and 4-bolt main. Steel connecting rods and cross drilled steel crank. Solid mechanical valvetrain. Im sure theres more but thats the main things.

Like I said b4 I highly doubt it is.. For 1 he said it is from a place that builds motors.. and if thats the case they know what a real Boss is worth and I just cant see them lettin it go for that much.. Believe it when I see pics of the valve covers if they are orginal and the freeze plugs...

The 205's might be a little to much depending on what other parts he is using.. Might want to go with the 185's... Bigger is not always better despite what your woman says!!!

Well when do you think you will have the money.. They might sell it no?? Why not let someone from the site have a crack at it if you dont have the cash and if its a real Boss instead of some Jabrone who dont deserve it??

Get those pictures of the freeze plugs and valve covers....

The boss 302 is much stronger then the late 5.0 or 351w blocks. The 5.0 production blocks are known for cracking in the valley but there's a fix for that now with a valley girdle. But if that's really is a boss 302 that's a steal and I would use it but with newer heads.

Dude just find out if the motor is what it is supposed to be. You have to put a cam, a good set of heads and then some b4 you even get close to 400 hp.... You are gonna need to stroke it to get that without a power-adder...
