Trying To Make The 5.0 A Street Racer

I just bought a 1988 Mustang GT and trying to find the first things to do to make it faster. It has about 70,000 miles.Currently it has new plugs, Ford racing wires, distributor cap & rotary button. Also, it has new BBK shorty headers & new 3 inch exhaust with flowmasters that dump by the rear wheels. The battery is new. I just replaced the clutch and installed a new zoom adjustable clutch cable & quadrant. It has new strut tower reinforcement subframe connectors & upper/lower torque box reinforcements. It also has new underdrive pulleys. The smog pump has been removed.

Gears, top end kit, stroke it out. Good start right there. of course if you do all that you will need to get new stuff too. Like injectors, MAF, throttle body, and a tune wouldnt hurt.

Well here is a link to probly one of the best top end kits and i think a lot of the people on this site will agree.

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294858290

Also i found a stroker kit for our cars but it was really cheap so i dont know how good it will be.......i guess any input from people that read this will help.

http://www.naparts.com/ProductModelD...ctModelId=7517

The way you talk about what your wanting to do sounds a lot like what im thinkin to do to my car......Its just right now im still paying for the car and I have been lookin up a lot of parts and saving them on the computer i just cant afford them.......One day though itll be :award

I have some more idea for the stuff like the MAF and intake and a few other things also.

yea deffinatly a top end kit and if you can stroke it out well you know the more cubes the more power. good luck man sounds like you have a lot of work in front of you but thats almost as good as driving it. its always more fun to drive after you have put all the sweat and blood into it.

Are you thinkin' forced induction or keepin' her N/A? Is nitrous in your future?
Do you wanna keep it more to the streetable side of life or live 1/4 mile at a time lol? Do you have a baseline for the car now? Ever had it tuned or dyno'd?
Turning it into a 306 (boring the block) or more, is a great starting point.

Pretty much what Tony and the other guys said is an excellent start.

As with any project, having an ultimate destination in mind is key. Helps to keep ya focused on what you need as opposed to what you want.

foxstang: you hit the nail on the head with your last statement. BRAVO man!!

What will be the advantage of going to 347? How much more HP will I gane?

the t70 turbo is capable of making enough power to push a mustang into the 9s.I know it takes a lot more HP than 400 hp to put you in the 9s.Duh

Yeah he also answered my front end post and One of the things I had mentioned why one of the reasons I have a K-Member is for weight loss the help lift the front wheels at the track and he said if I need a K-member to lift the wheels then I have more problems than that.. Not knowing that I have 416rwhp in a 2850lb coupe without my 150hp No2... What a fuckin asshole... Gotta love the noobs..
