which headers should i use
which headers are better..... i belive they are both mac headers. i know the ones in the first pic are..i was told the other ones were also.
Login | Facebook Login | Facebook i took the ones in the second pic and sanded and painted them with the vht paint....then i pulled the motor out of my 89 and realizzed that the other ones i think are better. i assume they are because they are equal length i belive. am i right?? |

i have to repaint the motor mount brackets and the oil pump and get shiney valve covers because now the headers make the rest look lik ass lol. i got the oil pan from latemodel resto..and it rusted in less then a month so i threw a quick coat of paint on it. i should have spent the 20 bucks more for the chrome one..but then again..it probly would have peeled off anyway

the first will perform better, but a bitch to install and will take up a ton of room.
the un-equel length will work fine, and be easy to install If it where me? Sell them both, and get some bbk longtubes. they will out perform them both with ease

P.S.
without the different tubes connected to each other at the head, they WILL warp. so if there not 100% new, they will be a absolute whore to install. and if there new they should go on fine, but the next time you pull them, the heat will have warped them, and they will need to be FORCED onto the head when you go to put them back on. stay away from those.

i did notice that the first ones are a little off..i thought it was just the gasket that was off a little. i didnt have to much time to play with them to put them on all the way. i just put the two end bolts in to hold it on

sell the equals for $200, and the other ones for $100 if you fix them up a bit. they wont sell all rusty.
looks like you have stock heads, you WILL gain more with longtubes then with the other two sets of headers, but you need a good set of heads to really NEED longtubes/gain a ton from them. get it?

i would like to get something that is nice and shiny. something that wont change color and look like crap. so i should go with longtubes or equel length would be the best. now i found some on lmr ..229 for chrome equel length and 349 for some that are polished ceramic. i assume the ceramic is better and i heard chrome keeps the heat in is that true? also will the chrome come off eventually?. i am looking to eventually put 300hp to the wheels so i guess i dont need $700 headers. i dont need anything to crazy. no plans for supercharger or anything like that. just all motor hopefully.

yep, thats the best route IMO, and you wont have to switch out later when you want a better exhaust set up.
but them now, and it will be a much better long term investment is what im saying.
