Help: TB and EGR removal

Do the TB and EGR plate mounting holes typically have threads or does the mounting bolts just slide through? I removed the four bolts to remove my TB and EGR plate and they refuse to seperate themselves from each other and the the upper intake manifold. I sprayed some WD40 in and around the studs and tried some agressive aggitation with a rubber mallet and a screwdriver but they are not moving at all. With the nuts removed, they should slide right off right? I even tried getting a screw driver tip in there and prying them apart but all that is doing is gouging up the TB and breaking screwdriver tips. The first picture is a side view showing the nuts removed from the studs, the second is a picture from underneath with intake manifold on the left, TB on the right (the assembly of the three parts stuck together as one is off the car and on my work bench).

Both the EGR plate and the TB are 70mm BBK if that matters.

Yep, they come apart. PITA after 20 years. You need a BFH.

I wanted someone else to verify it was really just stuck before I take my mechanical aggitation to the next level.

Thanks for the help.

Well, if it's aftermarket, it's not 20 years old, but the point remains the same. There is a gasket that goes between the TB and EGR, so someone may have put it on there with some kind of sealant. Of course you don't want to damage anything or screw up the mating surfaces; the EGR spacer has coolant going through so you don't want to introduce a leak.

Just be gentle. At first. . .

Mine took some coaxing as well when I replaced it. Just used a rubber mallet and tapped all the corners and worked it off very slowly. Let me just say my 70mm Mac TB (note some port matching required on a stock intake) has been working very well.

Wow, this is an old thread, yes, I fixed it about 4 years ago. It took considerable force and a crowbar.

Once I got it apart, I threw away the studs and nuts and used stainless bolts instead. Now when I remove the bolts, there is nothing left for the EGR or TB to stick to and a light tap should separate them but I havent had to take them apart yet to verify. For my specific TB, EGR and upper, I think it required 3.5in long bolts.
