need some feedback...

i am putting a 91 5.0 in my boat cause i blew up the 351w. i found this to be the cheaper route since i can make good power and engines are easier to find. here what i plan to do. cobra/gt40 upper and lower intake, 70mm TB and 76mm mass air, cam, rockers and fuel regulator.

my dilemma is what cam to use. i need to make up the torque im losing from the 351w. so which cam will provide good low end torque, which rockers (1.6/1.7) should i use. can i bolt the TB right up to the intake or do i need to use the egr spacer. the engine i have has 90k miles on it and it has newer heads, but i dont know the specs on the heads. they look brand new and the seller of the engine said this was his favorite engine out of the 5 he had because it ran very well. thanks for the help.

an e or b are cams that emphasize low to mid power there are many more
out there you will need an egr spacer ($50) so you can eliminate your egr and attach your throttle cable.your combo that you planned sounds ok
but you probably should get 24lb injectors if you still have 19s

E and B cams still give you power.

Someone will bop in and say Trickflow Stage 1 or 2, but you can also try Comp Cams stuff.

Without question the e&b are dinasours. With the stock heads any cam worth anything is gonna be a mismatch. Grab some gt40p heads or at bare minimum get the stockers ported. Then i would suggest talking with Comp and getting a cam an rocker set up from them. This is assuming your not looking to dump a ton of ching on this. BTW what type of boat is it?

Yeah, but son of a bitch, if I haven't been in a car running an E cam that can't keep traction to til he stops chirping in third (with a stock rear end, before you ask). Who gives a shit if it's old, it still works.

i have to run the o2 sensors right. that means i will have to drill and mount into my current exhaust set up. the manifolds i run have water that run through them to keep them cool, will the water effect the o2 sensors?

Cause there are so many better choices these days. Those cams were designed when the only heads available were stockers or GT40 irons. So why wouldnt you take advantage in the technoligy and advancements that have been made over the last 2 decades.

I take it the 351 was carbed? Why not stay that way?

the old 351 was carbed. i am limited on time to get this thing back in the water by spring. rebuilding a 351 isnt cheap and i have always been a big fan of fuel injection. so i found that going the 5.0 route was a little less expensive and i can make more power than the old engine. i bought a 91 5.0 with ecu harness for $1000 with 90k miles on it. i spend another $600 to beef it up and im in the hole for 1600 and on the water in 2 months.

So if you're sticking with stock Ford heads, does it matter?
