They aint cheap. you could do your whole drivetrain for the price of the engine.

i dont know the exact price of one but like Racinjason said you could redo your whole drive train for the price.......and by redoing i mean that you could have a 5.0 pushing probly 450 horse where the 4.6 would have the stock 300.....that would be a lot of work gettin that 4.6 in a fow with everything you would have to change.....im not at all tryin to down play your ideas......i think that would be pretty awesome to see a fox with a new 4.6 4 valve.....that would make a really nice show car....im just sayin that if all your goin for is to make a fast car i think it would be easier with the 5.0

I know this isnt the same but a lot cheaper, you could get a complete surplus engine and trans with pcm and wiring( from a 99 cobra(4.6 4v) for $6000 from FRRP and you would need a 4.6 k member too.

i think you have to switch too manual brakes to fit a 4v cobra motor which is a lot cheaper than the hydroboost system

Seriously, the Cobra doesn't cost $40,000 because it has high performance cup holders. You're going to pay out the ass for that motor. You can build a killer 5.0 for way less than getting an 03/04 Cobra motor + swap into Fox.

The Cobra drivetrain is far more expensive but I like the idea. I think it would be a really cool project. If you do it, keep us up to date on your progress mustangboy8909.

I have family spead throughout fond du lac, and i went to school in kenosha, but lived in waukegan.

Do you know of any mustang clubs in the southern wisconsin area that go out riding or anything like that?

Sorry I'm jacking your thread man, I couldn't figure out how to PM Darrell

I bought my 91 convertible off a kid for $4750 (it was clean and unmolested). I did alittle bit of work to it and ran into the kid a few months later. He spent $17,000 on a 2001 coupe, and after taking a spin in his old car was disappointed with the lack of torque from the 4.6 motor. There is more to making a car perfom than just the motor (although it would look pretty cool to have a DOHC motor under the hood).

I live in North Fond du Lac. I race at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna and Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove. I've been in the Fond du Lac area most of my life. You have family there? Its a small world. www.midwestmustangassociation.com is a local website you might be interested in.

Like they said it is not a quick fix nor a cheap fix. It will however pay off in the long run. The 03-04 cobras get 390 hp out of the box. You will need the k-member like already mentioned, the wiring harness, fuel tank w/pump ans 6 speed tranny or auto out of a mach 1. Thats not all, but the major stuff. I have heard of people getting whole totalled terminators for 6-8000. Or keep watching E-Bay for motors which go for around 6000. If I were sixteen, I would do the build what I got route. Cheaper and you can do it a little at a time.

Someone on another stang site is building a DOHC 5.4 Navigator engine that he is twin turbo's on which should be a beast.

It can be done but as I've said before it will take time and patience. I thought about doing this as well but in the end I can see myself dumping my money into other things on my car too get more bang for my buck.
