A Jetta just schooled my Cobra


I have a '95 5.0 Cobra that I've put shorty headers, K&N air filter, and flomasters on. It has also been lowered 1.5" and has 17.5lb ea. WedSport SA70 Wheels with Toyo Proxies Meats and a high performance clutch. Not that those mods add tons of horse power but it handles the curves like a dream. I consider myself, like most men I suppose, to be a good driver and feel I got everything that was to be had from the Mustang off the light and a damn Jetta just walked away from me. Now I'm on a mission to insure that won't happen again. Unfortunately it's a mission on a shoe string as I don't have a ton of money and my Italian bike along with my Latina wife have allocated most of my paycheck for them selves. What can I do to get this snake to bite? My aspiration for the car was the track, road coarse not drag strip and it seems to be fast as hell on the back roads but that Jetta chewed me up from light to light and I'm mad now. I'm not trying to make it a dragster but it has to be able to take a Jetta now and then.

I think the SN-95 computers are not very friendly to a lot of engine mods. Anyways, if you got walked on, you'll want as much of a HCI as you can afford.

In the meantime though, the best way to not get beat by a Jetta is don't race one.

How much for your HCI combo? You can spray that car without ANY cpu tuning. Have you ever used nitrous before? I have, for about 6yrs on the same motor, about 40 bottles at 100-175hp. AMATURES DON'T USE NOZZZZ.... YOU'LL BLOW YOURSELF TO PIECES!

Do yourself a favor and grab a set of gears it will wake that thing up and not to bad on the old wallet.

Yeah, was that jetta stock?.....surely not unless there is some turbo version or something i dont know about......surely if this guy got beat with a 5.0 the jetta had a turbo or some kinda serious work......or he cant drive...who knows

I just raced him... He's got a 442 TOHC(Triple Overhead Cam) with twin T-40 turbos, 4.30 gears and individual straight pipes for each cylinder. Backed by 23 inch phatties on the back and skinnes on the front made by 2F2F Racing. Look for a jetta with a sticker of a huge guy with a sword.
