if you are talking about the mexican blocks then they are a little stronger, i think that they were in early 70's cars, not sure someone will come in and chime on the years.

Can't bust it up on the years but I can say during the early 70's era blocks, they were really strong. Mine is an 88 and I've purposly revved to 7 on stock and didn't blow a radiator hose nor overheated or broke so mine's pretty strong.
The 351 blocks from the 69-74 era were strong blocks as well being that I read that from a 5.0 mustangs magazine from a section of guys that build racing engines

If you're a roller guy, if i'm not mistaken the 91-94 models were rollor. if your looking for protection, the 69-74 era block will have you covered. You can make hella power out of those blocks. I plan on it once I find a 74 351 block

if your questioning the strength of the 5.0 block.maybe you should build a 351 they fit mustangs using a swap kit which is not expensive.check holcomb motorsports.com.

The early 302 blocks are alot beefier than the roller blocks. The cylinder walls are thicker and the main webbing is thicker as well.

I would think the 351 would...some guys say they will hold up to 650...Go for it..If you break it, you got a few more blocks anyway!

The last one I built made over 700 horsepower and had 300 sprayed on top of it. A friend of mine makes 880hp at the wheels with a production 351W block and an F1R Procharger. Early 351W blocks are pretty strong for a production block.

Darrell.. I think I found the block I can get thanks to beleive it or not, that 88slg or whatever guy I was mean to(Sorry about that dude!).
Anyways it's a 72 351 ans was told anywhere from 69-76 were perfect to hold 650 and any turbocharger would not hurt it with great head gaskets.

how about this 69-74 302 or 351 w/ Twisted wedge heads, stage II cam, victor Jr. intake, 650 or 750 carb (barry grant), long tubes, 200 shot of nitrous, and if needed forged internals( of course), plus msd ignition components. sound good for a 93 notch back?
plus the suspention too. Ben |

I'd use a bit more cam like the TFS stage 3. Stick with a 750. I prefer Holley HP but Barry Grant is ok. Just make sure you thoroughly inspect the carb for metal shavings internally. That has been an on and off problem for Barry Grant carbs. Look into Team Z Motorsports for your rear suspension. That is what I run on my car and I 60 foot 1.32 on 10.5 inch tires. I've used pretty much every rear suspension set up out there. Team Z is in my opinion the best value out there. www.teamzmotorsports.net
