Deleting A/C and smog

When deleting both of those, do you have to relocate the power steering? And if so, do you have to buy some kind of bracket?

I believe you can get kits that just bolt pulleys into the locations of the smog pump and A/C.

However, for cars that didn't come with AC, the power steering pump is in a different place. So if you have seen kits with complete brakcets, it's going to be a setup like you never had A/C, as opposed to a placeholder pulley.

I of course have neither of those on my car.. What I did was bought the March alt bracket kit that allows the adjustment of the belt with a rod on the alt. I have no tensioner. My power steering is in the same place. I just made a couple a trips to the parts store to size up the belt. I have had to only had to adjust the belt tension once so far a week or so after install prob due to inital stretching.. I like my set up without the tensioner...

OK, first off I know its ghetto....

I took them both off and relocated my tensioner on the AC bracket. you have to drill a hole in it and get a nut for the bolt. you can leave everything else where it is.

not very much. i have put skinny tires up front and it is mostly used for the track. i will drive it on the street just to brake in the motor. only 500 miles on it now.
PS is leaking bad, and i can have that on the strip

Well, I think you need a kit to get rid of PS. It's not just the same as disabling the PS pump. Plus, since you're using it for a track application, there is a bit of weight reduction to be had from swapping the system over.

Taken from the "Losing HP" thread, this guy I quote is the topic creator so this is his problem on his car.

Tomorrow im going to switch it back to its original placing next to the alternator and see how it works. Thanks for all the advice the belt factor didnt even dawn on me till it was brought up thanks and ill let you know how it works.

Most people have the r12 units which I heard you can't recarge or are expensive to do so. I might buy a r134 kit off of 50resto, it's 799 tho =T

What R12 unit? It's all the same gear. I know you have to change accumulator if you swap over. Compressor is a maybe I think.
