My car has always smoked just a little when im on it at full throttle, but lately its been smoking heavily full throttle or not , sometimes even at idle. It also does it horribly throughout second gear. Its always white never black. Any thoughts or ideas?

It's really hard to say, are you loseing coolant, oil or both? usually you wont burn oil with a blown out head gasket.

if its a head gasket, like he said, you should be loosing coolant.....also the smoke might look like it has a blueish color and actually smells kinda sweet.

Blue smoke = oil, white smoke = coolant.

You're losing fluid somewhere, you just haven't found it yet.

It may be worth psyching up to do the headgaskets and as you pull everything apart, thoroughly examine all the gaskets and connections. It could be a bad gasket other than the head gaskets and if it is, you'll find it on your way to the headgaskets.

Do you not even want to try? Because if you take that to a mechanic, the car will probably come back with a burnt clutch and $1200 bill.

Just a thought.. Pull the valve covers off, look at the valve guide seals (underneath the springs) If for whatever reason they've lifted off the guides, or are torn/stretched/etc, this combined with guides/valves that are wearing out (but are not yet an issue) could cause oil to get into the combustion chamber...

I've seen a really bad case where so much oil got into the combustion chamer that the pistons had a layer of oil baked onto them, and the valves were so caked it had to have hurt performance.. by a lot

That's a valid concern but 1) that would be blue smoke and 2) the topic creator sure as hell won't want to do that if he is inexperienced.

First on 2 ) Pulling valve covers off is cake

and 1) Mine blew smoke that looked very white, but it was definitely oil.

Well for sure he prob aint gonna pinpoint it himself. But over the years I have become a very strong believer of the use of a leak down tester. It is an invaluable tool. Compression tests dont tell you shit and are a waste of time..
