starter stuck on!
im having a problem with my 92 gt.
observations 1. when i go to turn the ignition key, the starter is already starting to engage in position 2. i havent even turned the key all the way and the starter is already turning. 2. once the car is running, you can definitely heard something spinning, probably the starter. i already changed the starter thinking the solenoid on the starter was jacked, but that didnt help. any thoughts? thanks in advance

I had the same thing happen went through 3 starters and solenoids and replaced the ignition and ignition box. The only starter that would work is a brand new one. The refurbished were doing the same thing for some reason. Did you use a new starter or a refurb?
This is a weird little gremlin to chase out. |

I am in the same situation. Mine was good for a week then it happened again. I see this all over the different mustang forums. I have yet to hear a solution. I am going to try to shim out my starter to see if that helps. I dont know what else to do. I did notice 1 tooth missing on my flywheel. This is the olny other thing that I think it could be. But with the frequency I see this happening I am thinking it is something else. Electrical is my guess.
I have replaced my entire starting system and it is still doing it. |
