-3.73 gears
-remove the padding under the carpet in the hatch area -delete any goofy shit you don't need in the engine bay -buy some used weld draglites and put some mickey thompson drs on the rears -practice launching the car with different air pressure in the rear tires -off road x or h pipe -bump timing up and run 91-93 octane depending on your area and timing setting Last edited by flyin ryan; July 5th, 2010 at 08:49 AM. |

I am in the same boat as you. Bought my first 5.0 about 3 months ago. So far I have put a cold air intake, MAF, BBK shortie headers, X-pipe, and flowmasters. I went to the track on friday and I gained a full second, both runs were on street tires. Not to mention it was 109 degrees when I made my best run. My base line run was 15.4, I ran 14.45. Not too bad for a vert with over 100K... I just bought a 306 short block with a x303 cam. Heads will be ordered next week. I am shooting for low 12's with the combo.

Im sure he's able enough to take the 15 minutes to unbolt his lighter weld wheels and bolt up his ponys with the killer 225's on them and go Tokyo drift on all his boys

You're making the assumption "race" means drag, and yeah, that was based off the suggestion for Welds and DRs.

that is true, not a corner carver. The only turn I am interested in is the left hand turn to pick up my time slip.

Coming from the guy that traded his gt40 heads for some patriots, and asks a newbie question almost every day. . . Give the kid a break he meant long tube headers and you knew that, or at least you should have

Should've listened to 93hatch. Now you've spent money and the car isn't going to be much faster at all. If you bought a new h-pipe and you had stock headers on there, then when you buy your longtube headers you'll need another new h-pipe. The ones for the shorty headers don't fit longtubes.

In other words..... DO NOT PUT THE 24's IN WITHOUT HEADS or you are gonna NEED A TUNE! You can't just throw more fuel at something that doesn't need it. The TFS Street or Track top end kit would do you wonders and would get you in the horsepower area of NEEDING the 24's. Either way... a tune is best no matter what.
But now you might get to tell hatch in 90 days that you wished you would have read before shopping

With a 24# MAF the car will run fine with the 24#inj A tune would help but not ''NEEDED" you are not going to have any performance gains by using them and I wouldnt run them unless needed. Leave the 19s in it and send the 24s back if you can or sell them. But if you are dead set on them then might wanna get a adj fuel pressure reg.

I'm a TF guy, so I like the TF kits, which can be had at summitracing.com or you can piece together whatever you like using any brand of heads... but beware of the "cheap" heads out there. Research all heads before purchasing.
My buddy has AFR heads on his car and likes them, so each to his own. You can't really go wrong with any set of good quality heads.
