well 4.10 gears are a great place to start. An h-pipe is also good to add being that the stock catted exhaust is very restrictive. Not much performance in mufflers really, but you'll get that sound that you want.

A couple free-be mods to do are set your timing to 12 degrees advance and remove the air silencer thats in the inner fender right behind the air box. Next I would say gears would make a big difference, and a stall converter makes a big difference in an AOD car.

Subframe connectors are the very first thing I'd do (and did, with mine). Foxes are pretty flexy, and with the roof cut off it only gets worse.

I'm not convinced pulling the air silencer actually gets you any gains, it's not restrictive at all, and allows the airbox to pull cold air from inside the fender rather than warm air from inside the engine bay.

Are you planning on keeping the auto or swapping to a stick? If you're keeping the automatic, I'd get a deeper tranny pan plumn in an aftermarket tranny cooler.

The air silencer is not the air box, it is inside the fender.

Yeah, it's the rubber snorkel that attaches to the bottom/side of the air box and goes into the fender, right? That's what I've always called the silencer.

IDK, its the thing on the left.

THe opening on the air box, is larger than the opening on the silencer, and they pull air from the same place, as long as the airbox is still in place.

100 cfm difference? According to what? And what are the two numbers? If we're talking 1100 vs 1000 cfm, 100's not very relevant, especially when you consider that the stock heads aren't gonna flow anywhere near there.

EDIT:

Huh... according to the myth destroying sticky, you're absolutely right:

Reps to you, man.

If I remember right its a PITB. I think you can get it out with out taking the fender liner out tho.

Well, 3.73s will have you turning less rpm to go the same speed in the same gear. This will get you better highway economy, but it's arguable which is better around town, because the lower gears can let you run in a higher gear at lower rpm and not lug the motor. There's a lot of people that have noticed better city economy when going from their stock gears to either of the above.

If you want more info, do a search. There's probably 100 threads on "3.73s vs 4.10s", and there's not a definitive answer.

subframe connectors should be your first mod.. even a stock powered vert can and will twist the frame. You'll feel a difference in the ride and stiffness after the subframe install.

Yeah definately I would get subframes on that car before you twist it up. Especially since its a vert. Bad enough with a hard top.
