gear install
OK so after figuring out my 8.8 rear only had 2.73s in it I've decided to put gears in.now will I be good with just the ring and pinion set and a bearing/seal kit with the crush washer or do I need clutch packs..etc
Also what would be my best bet for gears, 3.73 or 4.10..the car is not my daily driver and only sees the road 2 to 3 days a week

stick or an auto, i think i would go with 4.10's... i have 3.73's in mine and i think i should have gone with 4.10's because from what i hear it will knock a tenth or two off comparitively...and ring/pinion is all you need really. the bearing seal kit is good too...how many miles are on the rear? is your posi wearing out? maybe you'll need clutch packs.

Its stick and I believe the posi is still original so I might have to get a clutch pack

do a burn out.. if your only burning one wheel then you'll need to rebuild your trac lok, if not then don't worry about the clutch packs right now unless you have the money to spend.
3.73 gears are the best gear for a full weight fox.. sure everyone says 4.10's but unless you have a top end setup on the car you'll be running outta rpms in the 1/4 mile, at least I did and I didn't really like cruising with it neither. |

flyin ryan is right, but also at the same time, its what 80 bucks from ford for a rebuild kit, and you already have it out, doesnt hurt to do it all at once while you are in there so you dont have to drain and refill, remove the axles, and all that jazz again when/if you do it later
