1986 5.0 conv HELP

I found one for sale I am new to ford

can you guys tell me what to look for

this is what the car has

black, 80K mi, new leather int, new top, pb, pdl, ps, tilt, pw, alloy wheels, 8 cyl, alarm, cruise, CD, cold air intake 70mm thrtle bdy, 30lb inject, new Toyo Proxy front tires, Edelbrock intake, new heater core, two way pager alarm, Pioneer det, stereo w/Morel spkrs, 300 watt amp, Flowmaster exhaust, Eibach springs, Stage 3 clutch, reliable, runs strong, paint is 3 yrs old, needs a few minor cosmetics, 3 yr old Tremec 5 spd trans,

If you like it get it. Me I would not pay that much for an 86.. But thats just me...

Around the hatch, inside the engine bay..Like the steering shaft and everything...Rust is a big bitch if you want to do stuff to the car. LIke put in long tubes but the steering shaft is rusted tight...also check the rear end....

I would have to agree that that is overpriced. You could probably do some talking down. I think i got mine for $3000, but hey, if you like it and can afford it, then definitely get it man. you will love it

Check ur floor pans and check around above the rear axle, trunk.

A question I would ask is why the 30lbs injectors? It seems like overkill with the rest of the setup. Also... a stage three clutch? Did the guy have a supercharger or power-adder? Maybe the car has been beaten and the guy is trying to ditch it....

It could also be that I am just overly paranoid... any thoughts?

+1 on that 30lb injectors on a nearly stock setup is stupid. a stage 3 clutch isnt necessary but it cant hurt.

At least they are already on though. If you plan on modding it more, it is a damn good thing they are already on there... i think it makes buying it all the more appealing! But it is your money man, buy what you want...I still think it is overpriced though.

Slap on some classic plates and drive it. Common rust areas around trunk, lower doors, rocker panel.

For $2000 more what the hell r u talkin about for the amount he is payin for the one he wants he can get a newer one.. Where are you buyin your cars?!! You can get a decent 89-93 for the 3200 that the dude wants that old ass 86 for..

a car that old i would check out the floor pan for rust and cracks also under the rear seat for stress cracks and last but not least the torque boxes the older cars with stick they tend to rip out and if the go bad the car is real junk and would not be worth fixing
