T-5 Trans

Hi guys, I went to put a new clutch in my car and did some digging and found out that i have a trans from a 4 cylinder thunderbird turbo coupe. I have tried to replace the pilot bearing and have run into a problem. The pilot bearing for the 5.0 is to big for the input shaft on the trans and the pilot bearing for the 4 cylinder trans is too small to fit in the crank. Is there a conversion bearing for such a problem or am i going to have to replace the input shaft?

i have the 4 cylinder trans and i have tried both bearings, the bearing for the 5.0 is to big for the input shaft and the bearing for the 2.3 is to small to fit in the engine. I got both parts from the dealer but i noticed the 5.0 bearing came with a what seems to be a metal bushing around in and the 2.3 bearing just came with the bearing. is the a bushing that goes around the 2.3 bearing that is that make both of them together fit in the 5.0 crank???

Were you running this setup before switching the clutch?

Did you use a pilot bearing removal tool to remove the old bearing, as it takes 2 steps on the 5.0 bearing to remove the inner race then the larger outer shell.

I think if this doesn't match up you maybe facked as I can't think of any bearing combo that will work, may need a 5.0 tranny. Did you try a performance tranny shop to see if there is some after market pilot bearing setup?

I think this tranny also maybe too weak for your 5.0 setup.

Good luck
