Finally found my issues, questions after all the reading

So, haven't been on here in a while. Been busy with helping repaint the wife's bike and my buddies wife's car. Then found out the wife is pregnant and got her bike sold since she won't be riding for quite a while. Anyway... To any that remember, I was having vacuum and lack of power issues with my car. Last fall, I put on TF 185 CNC heads, TF stage 2 cam, and this spring swapped out my TF street intake for a Track and the 65mm Tb for a temporary 70mm while searching for a 75 cuz one of the 2 70's I got was supposed to be a 75. Well my buddy had an idea of redoing a compression test to see if I was having any valve issues:

Well what do ya know, started pulling plugs and one didn't look like it was ever firing. Checked the compression on that one first, and sure enough... it was dead. So off came the intake. I saw combustion residue all over one of the intake valves, Thinking maybe it was a dropped valve seat, I pulled the heads. Turns out the seat was fine (held in a runner full of brakeclean without even a dribble. So, now I'm thinking that my buddy (who swore that I would mess it up if I did it myself, since I have limited motor work experience) overtightened one if not more of my rockers. When he was setting my rockers, I wasn't paying too much attention since he's done valves before.

I read somewhere that when setting the rockers, you should wait a bit to make sure that the lifter returns to it's nuetral position before setting lash. So... did he #uck it up, or is there a possibility that I may have a lifter that went bad. Or could it be something else? It doesn't seem that I can push in the center of the lifter any more than the next, but everyone I've spoken with say hyd lifters don't really go bad. I'm doing this myself in my garage now, but I don't know if I should spend 120 bucks on new ones or if that's a waste. With a baby on the way, I have to keep my spending in check now. Is there anything I can do to check them out?

if the lifters have some miles on them, I would go ahead and replace them.

roller rockers that are too tight, or loose can cause all kind's of odd shit.

btw, I just got my car tuned, here is the thread
Finally got the new set up tuned and dyno'ed

we have the same heads/cam pretty much, so it should intrest you.

good luck on the kiddo. our due date is july 18th, but we are thinking he will pop out here any day now.

Youd hear it if it was a collapsed lifter, it would be ticking fairly loud. Or if he had it adjusted way too loose Id think youd hear it too
