Fastest time to date was a 10.52. It was in the previously mentioned car that started off with Performer heads. When I get the build done that I'm working on now, I should be able to update that, but we will just have to wait and see.

I'm not comparing heads here but anyone who considers a magazine as a source of unbiased information is getting fooled. The money for any hobby related magazines are not from your subscription fees, it is from the advertisers and the product placement features and that is a BIG business. A small Mustang magazine is small beans, it is happening with every magazine and even the most popular ones.

Bump in magazine product placement

You have to read the article to understand the context these statements are used but this sums it up:

Most magazine product placements are made through barter deals, where magazines get something other than cash from advertisers, such as listings where specific products can be purchased. But more are paying for such placements.

In any case, the pace of placement far exceeds that of traditional display advertising. First-quarter ad spending in consumer magazines grew 9.5 percent over the previous-year period, to $4.7 billion, according to TNS Media Intelligence

Another similar article

Product Placement: It's Everywhere, It's Everywhere : Columbia Journalism Review

There are many other like it if you feel like searching for it.

Any company that wants to pay for influence in an article or an editorial can. It doesn't mean the product is not good but it can be heavily biased because the company is partly responsible for the content of the article and providing good money that magazine needs. Some of these article/placements can be informative but often times, it is what they don't tell you that makes the difference, they are like bikinis, what they reveal is suggestive but what they conceal is vital. This is just an example but that "supercool" spark plug may have given that test car 3 mpg and 5 HP over they ones they replaced but the ones they replaced may have had 100K miles on them and worn out. They may have got the same gains using just plain old cheap autolite coppers for 1/8 the cost. Watch some british auto shows sometime and compare them to the american ones (like the product placement kings that make up the powerblock series), the difference is amazing. They do not use nearly the amount of product placement and are much more informative.
