Get out on the road and get up to speed in like 3rd or 4th gear then floor it. If the revs climb and the car does not respond then the clutch needs to be replaced.. If it turns out thats what it does then there goes the theory that your dad never got on it because a clutch should not go with 50 thou on it or he rides the clutch like an old woman...

I was having some of the same type of problem. Ended up being that I had a bad vacume leak. Do you feel any poping coming from the exhaust when you take it up above 3000??? I would check all of your seals and your vacum lines to make sure that they arent cracked or split.

I don't see how, I have to disagree on that and agree with stangzilla. My car does that like when I rev up and try to dump the clutch, I get all the rev and the car is slowly working it's way to speed. So I have to get off the gas and nudge it a tad so the damn clutch pad will catch so I can go LOL FUCK I gotta replace my dang clutch. Need to anyways with my "new toy" coming soon
