Damn man, that must be shitty driving. My stock AOD launching at about 1500 ran just a little slower than that...

Manual tranny or Aod? Maybe the time effed up! I have no idea. No ragging on ya because i havent been back with the few mods i have done since my stock run, but that is slow with the mods you had on.

Can you list some more information like your 60 ft time and 1/8 mph, track elevation, etc.

Also how was your launch, did the car spin or bog? What rpm did you leave? What rpm you shifted at? What was the track conditions?

I had a buddy in his 93 coupe running 8.70s (1100 elevation) here on a stock motor with slicks and a 3.73 and some good launches but hes a pretty mean 5 speed driver.

Well if your running a trick flow stage 2 cam with stock e-7s and a stock aod converter I can see where the problems coming from.

With a cam like that you really need better heads then stock on it. Also you need a converter in that AOD to get that stall speed up and some higher torque multiplication to get that sled moving and makeup for the power loss from a 5 speed.

You say you have the edelbrock heads and havent put em on yet right?

I would go for adding those heads next and maybe a 97 1/2+ explorer intake if you are on a budget. Then get a decent torque converter at least 2800 stall and a must have if you do a converter is a better transmission cooler (with electric fan preferably) and you should be good to go.

Your 60 ft times for an aod isnt horribly bad but it could be much better. With a good converter alone and stickies you could pickup 2-3 tenths in the hole which is good for even more at the end of the run usually.

+1, your 60' and 330' were both faster than me. my 1/8 was at 9.9, but that was everything stock right down to the factory air box.

I thought gears and slicks would have you in the very low 9s or high 8s at least...Maybe i am wrong though.

yeah my ride when I first got it ran 9.1 all day with msd 6al 373 gears trick flow upper & lower manifolds c4 revears valve body tranny. I too was not happy! but my problem was getting out of the hole too sluggish. so i put a 3000 stall in it but have not run it yet to see how much differance it made.. but this friday i will see & let you know the differanceit made im sure it's a lot
