How much does a T5 rebuild cost?

roughly how much does a T5 cost to rebuild at a shop? mine has 200k mile shifts fine but we have it out cause a fresh motor is going in so i'm thinking now would be the time to have it gone thru to replace any worn out components.

how much something like that cost roughly?

i had new synchros put in mine and also one new shift fork and i was charged 375$ (inclusing labor obviously) i think rebuilds are only a little more than that. maybe 500$ or so

What was the result of your rebuild? Everywhere I have called in South Florida wants close to $1k for a rebuild.

Have you considered doing it yourself? Manual transmissions aren't hard to rebuild yourself, if you have the patience to sit down and do it. I rebuilt my toploader in about 8 hours, and could probably do it in 6-7 now that I've done it once

I picked up a complete rebuilt t5 off ebay for $675 with no core. Haven't installed it yet though so can't vouch for his work. He is a veteran rebuilder and has great feedback and assured me he would stand behind it.

Really the question needs to be asked, What are you going to be doing with this tranny, (good lord I can imagine the replys to that hahaha) Are you rebuilding a strong motor or just stock refresh? People are eager to give advice without getting facts!

I can only assume it's for the stroker motor build. There have been plenty of details given in the past.

But with his unknown spec RacerBrown cammmed 331, he should be able to just use a 4 banger t5 and be fine...

First I will undress the he/she slowly......anyways. I'm considering rebuilding one myself but have never done any trans work. I have 2x T5s one with 3rd and 4th synchros gone and the other has a chipped 2nd gear. Motor is 306 with 100shot.

I rebuilt a Jeep T-176 4-speed and Dana 300 transfer case in my basement a few years back and had never done one before. It was not too bad but I did have a PDF from an OEM service manual which listed step by step how to do the rebuild plus it had all the specs. I bought a 12 ton shop press from Chinese Freight tools and it worked great for pressing in the bearing cups. I've seen the T5 kits for $99-$175 plus if you need any replacement gears. Good Luck
