Bump the key to turn the engine over. It will drop right in.

The shaft will not stay straight but the hex top is beveled so it will straighten out and slide into the distributor. Try again, its not that complicated of a procedure.

There has been similar threads like this. I never had this problem with the stocker or my arp dshaft, which may as well be stock. I have friends who own srt-4s take my dizzy in and out. Just play with it.

found out my issue.

when i removed my dizzy it pulled the oil pump drive shaft out of the pump and was just sitting in the block.

but first, i went out there one morning after work and the dizzy just fell in... i fired it up and had no oil pressure and immediately shut it down.

without knowing what was wrong i went to oreilly's and bought a new dizzy, new mellings high flow oil pump.

today i am finishing it up... and im also putting some free headers on there as well

Were you going by a mechanical gauge or the stocker?

How do you know the shaft was out of the pump? There is a retaining ring on the shaft that keeps it from coming out of the pump otherwise it would come out when you pull the distributor out.

How long did you run the car when you thought it had no oil pressure? How long did the car sit since the last time it ran? Its possible that you didn't let it run long enough. Kind of like after you change oil and it takes a few seconds of running for the gauge to show oil pressure.
