Strange vibration....

I got a 88 GT i bought a few days ago, i was under the car checking stuff out and i noticed that my tranny is leaking outta the tail of the tranny. No big deal got the seal for it and was gonna put it in when i noticed that i can grab the driveshaft and move it up and down, side to side and it's not the u-joints.

It moves around the output shaft... Now is that my output shaft bearing going bad?? Or is it cause that seal is worn the hell out?? If its the bearing is it simple to change or is it gonna be one of those deals i have to pull the whole tranny apart?

Reason i ask is my 4th gear syncro is starting to go bad and if i have to pull the whole tranny apart im just gonna get the master rebuild kit for it. If not im just gonna fix that and drive it till the winter hits and pull the tranny out and re-do it then like i had originally planned. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have fluid leaking all over my tranny mount and its getting deformed. I bought the Energy or Prothane replacement from Summit Racing for about $90. I'll have a seal handy and in my case i'm doing a TransGo shift kit since i'm an A/T. After the new pan gasket and seal i expect to see mine clean. My guess is you'll see the same. I don't know about you, but i can't stand driving with trans issues...i learned to work on them myself just because they are expensive to put in someone else hands.
