Close call!!

The other day I pulled the monster out for the first time. I was gonna change the oil at my house in the garage but I did not feel like puttin the car on jack stands and all that crap. So I grabbed my 7 qts. of Royal Purple 5w30 and my Fram high performance filter and headed to my best friends shop.. I put the car on the lift and while the oil was draining I looked over the undercarriage and when I got to the rear end I noticed on the left side of my diff cover where it bulges out to accomodate the ring gear a little more than half way up there was a hole about an 1\8 to a 1\4 inch in diameter. I was like what the fuck!!! A couple a months back I just installed my Power-Trax locker and 31 spline Moser axles. The locker I got did not require removing the ring and pinion. Anyway I removed the diff cover and spun the wheels to find one or the bolts that holds the ring gear on worked its way out and punched a hole in the cover. Luckily it just fell down into the bottom of the diff into the oil. I reinstalled the bolt and retorqued all the rest finding 3 others really loose!! When I bought the car it already had the 3.73 gears in it. i guess the dude did not torque them right and put loc-tite on them.. Freekin close call cuz if I wuz not feelin lazy that day I would not have done it at home and if I did I dont think I would have checked out the rear end.. Close call huh/!!!

Dammmmnnnn, you're lucky. I had a similar. My trac-lok was worn, so I got a rebuild. I popped off the cover and all teh clutch plate ears came out with the fluid. And the clutches in the rear still had the ears on them Who knows how long they were in there? I rechecked the diff. again to see if my lost wallet was in there too, but it wasn't.

Sounds just like the idiot who used to own my car that that had EFI Carb Injection... He added a freakin 750 Demon carb and left the efi fuel pump in with wide open fuel levels, two bolts holding the fan, MSD wires all out of order, leaking valve covers, weak valve springs. Talk about if I wasn't lazy that day, suprized the engine itself didn't flooding out of my engine bay with all that damn fuel..
