the block will split before you have to worry about hyper pistons if the car is tuned right.
I just wanted to say thanks for your service brimmer555. I know what its like working your ass off in the Army and the only thing keeping you sane is thinking of car/motorcycle projects. now for my opinion. A 302 with decent h/c/i and a healthy shot of nitrous would meet your goals. my car dynoed at 320rwhp, which is about 390 at the motor, is a blast to drive on the street, and when you hook up that 150shot its absolutely insane. But if I had to do it all over again, I would have put my money toward a 351. you can make 500hp on motor pretty easy, and be able to drive it daily. just not going to get stellor gas mileage

[quote=davashcow;3117804] The block splitting has nothing to do with the hyper's in it... The piston going bad due to detonation is what the difference between hyper and forged is all about.

Yeah, I wasn't saying the hyper pistons had anything to do with the block failures. I was defending the '93 motor. Plenty of folks don't wanna force-feed them because "dem dang pistons ain't forged." The block is the weak point and plenty of folks running proper A/F ratios on the '93 bottom end have proven that.
That's why I wanted some in-depth explanations about tuning. Here's a more specific question: What's the first thing to do once I pull a TWEECER out of the box and plug it in? |
