Want to make 500-600hp in an 87-93 5.0
I'm in the Army and don't have much time I did some light searches through here, but wasn't finding what I was looking for.
What I want to know is some ideas on making a daily driver 87-93 5.0 that puts out in the hp range of 500-600 RWHP. I have been thinking that a super charger is the best way? i'm also looking for the most cost effective way, and NOS is not an option. I don't want to deal with the fried piston rings an all that mess lol. Thank you all for the help! |

You can do just as much engine damage with a turbo or supercharger as you can with nitrous. A bad tune is a bad tune no matter what power adder you have. I would rather have a blower or turbo on a street car though because then you don't have to worry about the bottle going empty. That much horsepower is going to cost alot of money. You WILL need an aftermarket block.

im in the army myself...i spent deployment money building a 347...some days in hind sight id rather go with a 351w stroked to 408 or 427..as a daily driver i guess 408 either way youd have no problem making the power and its an efficient motor. not to break away from the 5.0 i just realized how much a power house a windsor is

hmm I guess that's food for though. What kinda mpg are we talking between a 351, or a blown 5.0? I has seen some seriously stupid high number com from a turbo or a super charger. and i deffinately want all the time power, unlike running a bottle empty.
But I need some serious tech on this subject. I am bout to be flying home to Pennsylvania here soon. and i'm sure i can find some things at next years Carlisle Ford Nationals. i'm from Carlisle, PA. |

im sure the mpg is alot better on a 5.0 .. i dont know much about supercharging or turbos..i stick to NA and stroking..thinking bout adding a turbo to my 347 but we'll see...have you seen the kits hellion has for a fox mustang?
79-93 Mustang Single Turbo System - 350 to 850 HP check that and see if that could fit your budget.. |

If you're concerned about gas mileage, you probably need to lower you goals a little. You don't build a 500 rwhp and worry about fuel economy.
Since a stock 302 block would be risky at best, I would just build a 351 based engine. On a side note.....why are there so many people on this forum scared of nitrous? Nitrous is gooooooood

to do it right its gonna cost you over 15k
why do you want 500-600 hp in a street car? have you ever driven anything with anything close to that much power??

Then I suggest this! Meets or exceeds your power goals, will give you decent gas mileage, is supercharged and will be DD reliable!

i guess the big question is why 500-600hp? is it just a number thrown out because it sounds cool or is there a specific reason?
i know a lot of young guys say the want a 10s car for no reason other than they watched The Fast and Furious a half dozen times. |

How about whats in 1slo5.0's sig. It may require a different K member but I think it may fit under a stock hood.
