Thoughts on Seafoam?

Thinking of putting some Seafoam additive into my 5.0. My brother swears by it for his high mileage 5.0 truck. I figured with my stangs 151,000 miles the stuff may help clean out injectors, plenum, etc.

Just curious what you guys think?

I don't like the foam. I just use sea water.

i just ran seafoam through mine, i did about half through the pcv line and the put the other half in the gas tank...it smoked like hell, after i ran the seafoam through the tank and put fresh gas in it i noticed a difference in throttle response as well as a smoother acceleration, i would say its deffinitely worth the money

same thing i told stanging if you did decide to put it in the crankcase, youre only supposed to run it for about 100-200 miles so put it your oil before a needed oil change.
in any case, the best part about seafoam is all the smoke! lol

well the reason I did half is because i didnt feel comfortable with putting it in my oil and i just recently did an oil change and im a college student and am trying to save money whenever possible, no point in ruining good oil and having to change it again, so i compensated for what i didnt put in the crankcase and split it up between the two...

I've seafoamed every vehicle I've owned since I found out about that stuff, which is quite a few.

It's VERY worth it to run it through the vacuum system, alright through the crankcase (only do it if you're changing your oil the next day!), but I don't feel that it's worth it at all as a fuel additive. For that, I'd much rather run some Lucas.

For b-port Cobras, seafoaming is the ONLY way to clean the dry intake ports, and should be done every other oil change.

Just make sure that you read and follow the directions on the can. The cases were someone borked their motor while seafoaming are ALWAYS because the person felt they knew what they were doing and didn't need to read the directions. Or because it was an old rotary engine whose apex seals were held together by the carbon deposits. But mostly because of that first thing

Yeah its good shit. I would always do half in the brake booster and the other half in the gas tank. Maybe a little more in the vac line sometimes if i feel like a rebel. The smoke is always insane though. Just make sure after you turn the car back on, to let idle for just a minute or less. You need to put a load on the engine for max results so go drive it. Just make sure there's no cops around lol
