The main shaft looks ok, but i'll inspect it again. I ordered a new bearing to replace the old one

at first it looked like that was the loose needel bearings that ride on the mainshaft now i see that is the input shaft bearing. that is uausally caused fron running low on fluid. easy fix. new bearing retainer and new input bearing/ race.

Ok so I have a new issue, my bearings won't fit over the base of the input shaft. The bearings will fit over the snout (where the shaft engauges the flywheel) but not over the base (where the inout shaft sits inside the tranny housing), it's not wide enough.

ok that makes sense, I never removed it. If you look in the first pic it looks like it got shredded.

if you have a vice and a bearing seperator or an air chizel the old one is easy to remove even a hammer and a chizel will get it off. the new one is easy to install. get a peice of pipe the right size and use a hammer to hit the new bearing on just have the base of the input shaft sitting on a flat hard surface like a plate of steel or the concrete will work too. or if you have access to a press that will work too.

And this really works? Do I need to use any lube or anything to help the bearings slide onto the input shaft?
