The rotating assembly mostly.... They can hold things from blowing away if you put one on top of said item, cuz DAMN they are heavy.

It all depends on the tune and the year and if the block was cast at 3:00 on a friday. It varies, but the consensus seems to be that on an older 351 block, you can go 800hp with a good tune and not have much of a problem.

4 bolt mains and thicker main webbing help a lot. Cap chatter is what kills these 302 blocks and with 2 bolt mains, it doesn't take much.

Yea I hear that's the main reason people go 351, 4 bolt main.

What do ya think about this block?

SHP Ford Small Blocks

It's no Iron Eagle, but it's still a Dart.

Anything dart will be miles ahead of a stock block. If you don't ever plan on making over 1000hp, then SHP is a good choice.. although I'm sure there's guys that have made plenty more than 1000 on those blocks. They're built well.

69-74 are the strongest. 69 made the most horsepower from the factory. Anything up to 79 or so is strong. Everything after that is a little less strong.

People go to a 351 block for cubic inches. There is no factory 351W block with 4 bolt mains.

FML.. I never knew that. I always thought they were 4 bolt from the factory. Now it makes sense why guys were machining and putting the cleveland main caps on windsors. I always just thought the cleveland caps were stronger and thats why they did that, lol. Shows how much i know about 9.5 deck stuff.

I've never heard anybody do that either. That would require alot of work. Probably more than what its worth. Clevelands have a 2.75" main journal and Windsors have a 3" main journal.

I've never seen it done, but I heard woody mention he knew guys doing it once or twice. He said it wasn't worth the effort either. Ah well, I'm still learning this shit everyday. Hopefully I don't say stupid shit like that too much and completely turn my intentions on this site backwards.
