Sorry... should have explained myself better..... To build a 351 stroker RIGHT, it will cost MORE than just a couple hundred more. We already had this discussion with someone in another thread. Just the appropriate size heads alone, is going to run you about a thousand more, when comparing what it takes to get a 347 to its potential vs. a 408-427 to its potential. And if people already have their headers... that's more money for new ones. For whatever reason, it's even a hundred bucks more just for the same EFI intake from most places.

Sorry... I researched it enough myself in the last month to know it's not just gonna run you a couple hundred more. I'll go with a couple thousand more, since I'm looking at the WHOLE picture.

Why not a 351W based motor? As the others said; too much money comparitively. I am also going to go the forced induction route so I can make as much as an N/A 408,427 etc. 302 based parts are very cheap in the whole car hobby. But seriously guys, I need an idea of where to start. I need to know what kind of block/rotating assembly would be good for some power and a turbo. I'm almost positive my heads will be trick flow I just don't know what size would be appropriate for a stroker. Thanks.

If you're trying to go 9's (reliably) you're already going to have to buy a new block/internals anyway. you'll also be buying new headers and a new topend. The money you'll spend doing it with an 8.2 deck vs. a 9.5 deck won't be a whole lot more and you can make more power with a 351 based engine. Don't get me wrong, I love a screaming 8.2 deck, and acceleration is what gets you to the finish line faster which an 8.2 deck will do better every time given the cubes are close. Either way, both deck height blocks will do what you're looking to do and the cost difference won't be a whole lot more in the end. But a 9.5 deck height block will allow you room to grow more, given if you do it right, you can turn almost as much RPM and have more cubes.

I'm not discounting what FastStang91Lx said at all though. If you're doing a build where you wouldn't have to change everything, he is absolutely correct. For a car with goals not as high as 9's on a street car, I wouldn't go with a 351 block either. I just look at it thinking you'll never be satisfied with the time you run and will always want more.

A 9 second car is going to cost you a minimum of $15,000 and that is assuming you have the car and some of the parts already. Its easy to build the horsepower. What you have to factor in is the suspension, roll cage, chassis strengthening, wheels, tires, axles, axle bracing, fuel system, seats, seat belts, SFI approved parts, parachute, etc. I've done it and its expensive.

Dart iron eagle block from woody, go 445 cubes. TEA 235 highports or better, ported super vic (or super vic EFI), custom billet cam. Tubular K member, tubular a arms, coil overs front and rear, cage, motor plates, full rear suspension kit with ARB (Team Z is my first choice), Accufab headers, pro systems carb if your going carb or your choice of tuner if you're going EFI. Faceplated toploader if you want stick, I don't know jack shit about autos. 9" ends on your rear and rearend bracing/gussets, slicks, skinnys and a whole lot of supporting mods that I forgot to mention.. ect.. If you want more, spray it, boost it whatever, just take that into consideration before you build it.

I was talking about a typical car, not a Street Car Chaos car.

You sure could skip alot of safety stuff and still go fast and do it cheaper but its stupid and unless you go to 41 or another track that runs a similar program you will never get to race the car.

Most of the time I never used my shoot or even had it on the car because it wasn't fast enough.

145mph requires a chute. I couldn't get that piece of shit to go faster than 143mph. The chute sure did look pretty though.

Is 41 a track, or a speed/certified point? Sorry, don't know squat about tracks yet.

Also as a matter of fact I just got back from there. Me and my son went, we were greeted at the gate by a half naked girl. She said no dice, its 18 and over tonight. I was pissed. My 10 yr old son had his eyes locked on the hoochy, it was priceless.

Nothing like wasting a 5 gals of gas, and driving 70miles round trip in my hot ass fox.
