broke bolt on air pump

I was having a really bad day today. my smog pump seized (looks like years ago) so i was going to replace it with a sp delete pully to go back to the origional belt set up. the car was neglected for years. when i attempted to take off the top (long one) bolt off the bolt snapped. how can i get the pump off now? there are 2 lower bolts. the one close to the engine will come off. the other, cloes to the pump, i fear will break as well. any ideas?

ps this car has enough of my blood to be considered family

try to use some spray on the bolt closest to the pump thats specifically made for loosening rusted bolts, it helps

for the bolt that broke off, get an EZ Out kit if u dont have one already, I have to use that kit for stuck or broken bolts alot on the aircraft, they work really good most of the time, if a ez out kit doesn't work I guess you should just try to step-drill the shank out completely if theres access with a drill

get yourself some PB blaster and spray the unbroken bolt,or you can use a torch to loosen up the bolt.

wouldn't a torch cause thermal expansion therefore keeping the bolt tight in the threads, how would that help?

Torches help greatly in taking bolts out.. just be careful...

i'm screwed! went through a whole can of pb blaster on the 3 bolts over 3 days. i also took a blowtorch to to the bolts. there is not much room. i'll try to remove the fan and then try the ez out kit.

for the mean time i can run the belt the way the last owner had it. its not as safe as i would like and its really ghetto but its a good band-aid.

the good news i got the car on the road. it was nice to hit the gas and hear that wonderful v-8 sound.

the prev owner did this! it bypasses the smog pump directly to the alt. so at the alt and belt tensoner it dubbles back on its self. i dont like it ' cause there is a 1/4 inch space between the belts at that time a good bump will cause it to rub.

i would include a pic but my car is at the shop getting trans work.
