Is is really worth it?

ok guys, i had a thread about builind a 306. I am ready to purchase my parts needed to get it bored/honed, hot tanked, balanced, etc. before i buy anything, i got to thinking, is it really worth the extra 4 cubes? i am going to take it to the machine shop where i live and ask if they can take a look at it and see if the cylinder walls need to be bored/honed or if just need to be cleaned and rebuilt. I mean the money that i am going to be putting out for the new cubes i could buy more parts if there is no need to get it bored. Also was wondering your thoughts about going carb rather than F.I? the reason i ask is because i am building from the ground up on a budget. Don't need a horsepower terror just a quick daily driver with the occasional trips to drag strip in the summer months. what i have is: 88gt block with stock crank, pistons, rods, rings, from what i remember. its at my dads right now in the garage. oh i'm pretty sure it has the harmonic balancer but i was told that i should look into getting a new one as the stock ones can be iffy. thanks for you time and advise in advance

347 ftw. If not, stick another 200 dollar shortblock in it and drive it till it dies

stay fuel injected. also, don't build a 306. save your pennies and build a real 363 or 408. stock blocks are junk. do it once, do it right. my motto.
