New to Mustangs

I always wanted a 5.0 as a Teenager. My more affluent friends had them while I was driving an old S-10 pickup...

We just picked up a 90 GT for my Fiance's Son, so I've been tinkering on that for the last couple of weeks.

Yesterday I got myself an 85 GT. It's a few different colors at the moment... It is really solid EXCEPT for the drivers side strut tower (no surprise there I guess...) I think I'm going to order a replacement piece from Prestige mustang and fix it right. Looks like I'll be digging in much more than I was planning. Not the first time that's happened though!

I'm not new to cars, just Mustangs. I've built a few hotrods and currently have modded, tuned, and meth injected Mini Cooper JCW that I did all the work to myself (except for the ECU tune of course).

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.

Will do, Thank you.

I just got off the phone with my friend who owns a body shop. He told me if I get the repair strut tower panel from Prestige, take out the engine and trans, and cut out the bad metal, he'll fix it for $400-$500 dollars.

So, this officially just became a project. I planned to eventually put a stroker motor in the car anyway... My Mini is for sale. Untill it sells I'll get the stut tower rust fixed, and paint the car. There's no better time as when the engine is already out to paint it I guess.

Is there a market for these '85 engines and transmissions? As I understand it '85 was the first year of the roller motor and the last year of carburation?

Welcome to the forums man. Just to let you know.. Even if your mini had 2000 hp.. it is not a muscle car. That would be a tuner. aka.. the complete opposite of a ricer. We for the majority respect anything fast or that has been built right.

For example.. my Jeep.. maybe a 20 second Jeep if a push it. lol

My first mustang was an 85 gt. thats a great looking car. Have fun with it. You gotta love the red dash lights, and no third brake light in the wing.
