Looks like I'm going to have to invest in one of those. When the balancer's bad, what does that exactly throw off?

engine timing.

if the outer ring comes off the balancer it can do serious damage to your accessories, block, radiator, fan, and with a un-balanced motor, it will eat itself pretty quickly.

to answer your question i was asking if it was normal or not, i know v8 motors have some amount of movement to them, just didnt know how much, a lot of posts on here are of people asking about certain things they are experiencing, it may not always be a problem....

btw

I replaced my balencer not to long ago, and installed a ford racing OEM style one. didn't even last a year/10k miles before it was tore up and wobbling.

its not worth the money to buy oem style shit when your revving the piss out of your motor and racing it.

I looked at that one too. the one I posted is supposed to be lighter.

the SFI one was just over a pound heavier then the OEM style balancer BTW

Yeah, but I need the extra rotating weight so I don't bog off the line
