haha, it works man. blew ice cold when I bought the car, and when I pulled the heads the first time, I let all the R32 (or w/e it is) out. not knowing it was expensive to get refilled at a shop, and hard to get yourself.

Aren't there people running this things untuned? I'm sure its not to its full potential, but can't you buy an a/f gauge and go a little bit from there with a fuel pressure regulator?

but good thread, i'm subscribing. How much did you spend total for everything, and how much are they charging to tune it?

Ran into several problems today...

first one has to do with the MAF that comes with the kit. It has to be welded in...and it's aluminum...luckily the guy installing it can handle that.

the second issue is the Y-Pipe is not fitting properly. got to call on3 tomorrow and chat about that...otherwise things are moving forward...

more pics...first one is my manifold...since it was off the car I had it painted ford blue...also...any good place to mount the MSD 6AL? keeping the battery in original spot if possible.

kit to my door was 2602...

install from a very good friend is 400 (which is highway robbery on my part but I will def tip him nicely)
if you want a shop to install plan on 1500-2000 easy.

Tune with chip, 600

gaskets and misc parts...probably a few hundred bucks at this point. I have made a point to replace everything I can since I am in there anyways.

I think when it is all said and done it will close to 4k for me. I think if you had a shop do it, probably near the 6k range.

You really can't consider welding on the maf as a "problem". How else can you drop it into a solid pipe?

The problem was it was not mentioned that needed to happen in the instructions. No big deal but you still need to have someone who can weld aluminum do it.

LOL. That is crazy considering how tight the turbo kit makes everything. How did you fit everything?

Not sure what the MAF looks like, but can't you cut out a section of the pipe and use some hose and clamps to connect the parts?

Spent ALL DAY saturday working on it...half a day yesterday, and he is going at it right now. He is retired union diesel mechanic and is a turbo expert. He is super anal and takes his time on everything. Exactly the guy you want to install your turbo.

I think he has about 15-20 hours in it right now.

jake and mitch have both spoken to you... YOU DO NOT NEED A BASE CALIBRATION SINCE YOU HAVE A 42lbs MAF AND 42lbs INJECTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car will run as long as the maf is close.. just dont get into boost until the appt.. OR, set your timing to 15degrees and remove the spout connector.. We, at Kurgan Motorsports, dont like to waste peoples time and money if they dont need something to get to a dyno appt.. IF YOU WANT TO COME AND PICK UP A CHIP, then thats up to you.. the base calibration will only be as good as your maf calibration from PMAS or Pro-m.. thats why we DYNO TUNE WITH DATALOGGERS ON OUR DYNO to dial in the transfer function properly. We are the ONLY PEOPLE IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS who have the proper datalogging equipment to do so.. We tune 300-350 cars a year.
