Painting interior

Hey guys, I decided to paint my interior black, so i picked up some plastic paint. I cleaned all the pieces and started spraying them with Kylon for plastic.

My problem is I just picked up a paper towel and wiped some dust off a piece i painted a few days ago, and the towel started to turn black. So I rubbed the piece (with very little force) to to see if it was just excess paint, and slowly the more I rubbed, the more the paint started to fade.

Whats the problem here?

I dont want people getting in the car and having their clothes turn black, what do I do?

Did you scuff the surfaces first? Did you clean them w/ rubbing alcohol? Were they sanatized?

I cleaned them with soap water, then windex. Could it be that I need a clear coat?

Nah... Shouldn't. Maybe a plastic primer. The windex might be what is causing the paint to slip.

Try using 70% alcohol and a slight scuff to make it stick. Use a plain paint. No sense in spending xtra $ on that "For Plastics" paint.

I've painted many an interior and never used that stuff. Scuff the surface, clean it w/ alcohol and let it dry. A basic primer is all I have ever used, if even that. Never had a problem

So in other words I gotta start over. That sucks haha, i spent 2 weeks doing it, and the whole car is taken apart. So I have to sand all the pieces all over again then.

Its weird how it rubs off....it feels like a dust, and the more you rub the more it fades.

That is weird... Best be gettin' a refund from Krylon or the retailer where you bought it.

Maybe try doin' one piece at a time. Just to make sure it'll stick. Spray it and leave it for a few days to make sure it bonded.

Sorry bro, but at least you have an excuse for the girlfriend when she wants you to go purse shopping with her...

I've just used that cheapass colorplace $.98 a can from wal-mart. Never ran into problem lol. But, I prepped the shit outta my plastics.

Plastic can be a bitch to paint if ya aren't careful and do a thorough cleaning on it.

I used a coating of fabric paint as a primer followed by krylon rust tough exterior paint and it sticks good and looks real nice.
